Preparing for Your Appointment

After scheduling an appointment the next step will be to gather documents that might assist us in evaluating your case. If you have these documents readily available please provide them at your scheduled appointment. If you are unable to gather these documents don’t despair we can continue our consult as scheduled. This is provided as a guide of information we often find necessary when assessing each case.

Type of Case Document(s)
Immigration –When scheduling your appointment feel free to provide our office your email and we will be happy to forward you a checklist of what documents might be needed in your particular case.  In addition, we are happy to provide you our email so you can forward the necessary documents to our office for review prior to your appointment. Identification- Passport, Driver’s License, Green Card, Military Identification, Work Permit(s), Social Security card

Birth Certificate/Marriage Certificate/Divorce Decrees

Copies or originals of any immigration records, letters applications or files sent or received from immigration/consulate/embassy/previous lawyer or representative.

Criminal–  When scheduling your appointment feel free to provide us your case number if the case has been filed with the County/District Court so we can obtain a copy of the Court docket. Police report/citations/Notice to Appear for Court hearing
Family- When scheduling your appointment feel free to provide our office your email and we will be happy to forward you a checklist of what documents might be needed in your particular case. If you have been served with papers we are happy to provide you our email address so you can forward the documents to our office for review. Marriage Certificate

Birth Certificate of any children

Divorce Decree (if a modification case)

Letters from Attorney General (child support)

List of assets/debts

Probate- When scheduling your appointment provide our office your email and we will be happy to forward you a checklist of what documents might be needed in your particular case. Identification- Driver’s License or passport

Copy of Last Will and Testament

Copy of Death Certificate

Guardianship- When scheduling your appointment provide our office your email and we will be happy to forward you a checklist of what documents might be needed in your particular case. Identification – Driver’s License or passport

Medical Records- If required due to incompetency or physical disability.

Other items that might assist us in evaluating your case are;

FBI or Department of Justice fingerprinting reports (DOJ)
if you have never been fingerprinted our office is adjacent to a licensed fingerprinting agency. The DFW fingerprinting, LLC can take your fingerprints after your appointment for a fee.

Criminal record
if you’ve been arrested, or found not guilty of a crime, received a dismissal, been on probation a court “certified final disposition” of each offense will assist us in evaluating your case. If you do not have a court “certified final disposition” we can request these records for a small fee.
